E-WASTE E-Waste

What is E-Waste?

E-Waste is a component of electrical and electronic devices such as various PCBs, power supplies, network servers, and communication devices from products such as computers, mobile phones, and communication devices.

The Source of E-Waste and PCB E-Waste

/

E-Waste is mainly used in electrical and electronic devices such as household appliances, telecommunication products, and internet servers. Among them, household appliances account for 45% of the total, and parts for the spatial learning function and wireless communication function used in refrigerator displays and AI vacuum cleaners are examples of the use of this scrap in household electronics.
PCB E-Waste is mainly used from PC main boards, electronic board assemblies, network equipment, and communication devices, and PCBs for communication devices account for about 43% of the generated amount.
By checking the shipment figures of mobile phones, representative communication devices, it is natural that communication devices have a high share in PCB production.

Virtuous cycle of resources through E-Waste recycling

As electric and electronic product production technology develops day by day and electronic equipment replacement cycle is shortened, the amount of E-Waste is also increasing naturally. It is predicted that the amount of E-Waste generated will increase by an average of about 6% per annum from 2016 to 2026, and the PCB E-Waste is expected to increase by an average of 7% per year from 2016 to 2026.
Ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals such as copper, aluminum and tin, and precious metals such as gold, silver and palladium extracted through recycling of E-Waste are reused as materials for other industries, slowing the depletion of natural resources. By reducing the amount of E-Waste that is incinerated or landfilled, it contributes to environmental protection and a virtuous cycle of resources

Korea Zinc’s new growth engine,
E-Waste
recycling business

/

E-Waste recycling is drawing attention as it emerges as an alternative to solving the problem of depletion of natural resources and environmental degradation caused by the disposal of E-Waste. In addition, it is emerging as an effective way to reduce the amount of E-Waste that destroys the natural environment and as a future-oriented business.
Accordingly, Korea Zinc is practicing resource recycling by extracting and reusing more than 16 types of metals such as nickel and copper through recycling waste mobile phones.
Korea Zinc is accelerating the promotion of Korea Zinc's new growth engine by actively reviewing the recycling business of E-Waste faster than any other company.
